Union
Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Kalraj Mishra on
Saturday laid the foundation stone for setting up of an Industrial
Estate each in Ukhrul, Churachandpur and Chandel districts, Livelihood
Business Incubation (LBI) in all nine districts and MSME Technology
Centre at Food Park, Nilakuthi in Imphal East.
Laying
the foundation stone at the expo hall of the ongoing 1st Manipur
Industrial Expo at Lamboikhongnangkhong, Imphal West, the Union Minister
in his speech said the Ministry of MSME has introduced several schemes
to create employment and entrepreneurship in the country.
The
Union Minister said that A Scheme for Promotion of Innovation, Rural
Industry & Entrepreneurship (ASPIRE), Prime Minister Employment
Generation Programme (PMEGP) and Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of
Traditional Industry Scheme (SFURTI) are of the ambitious schemes taken
up by the Ministry.
The
function was also attended by Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh as
president; Union Minister of State, MSME Giriraj Singh as special guest;
Commerce & Industries minister Govindas Konthoujam as chief host;
Development commissioner MSME Surendranath Tripathi who is also the
Additional Secretary, Government of India and DG of International
Chamber for Service Centre Dr Gulshan Sharma.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had said India cannot be fully
developed without developing the North-east States, the Union Minister
further assured that efforts will be made to establish cottage
industries and boost different sectors in the nature blessed
North-Eastern States.
He
appealed to the people to make ‘’Make in India’’ and ‘’Make in
Manipur’’ initiatives successfull. Addressing the gathering, CM Ibobi
asserted that all round development and peace in the State will come
only when the people work with firm commitment and determination.
Stating
that it is impossible for any government to provide government jobs to
all the people of their respective States, he said that the government
is taking up works to develop the required infrastructures to provide
self-employment to the unemployed youths of the State.
Emphasizing
on the need for the State to produce own products to become
self-reliant, the CM exhorted entrepreneurs of the State to ensure that
their initiatives and ideas would benefit the people.
Minister
of State Giriraj Singh and Minister Govindas Konthoujam also spoke on
the occasion. During the function, certificates were distributed to 24
trainees from the State, who underwent training at Fragrance &
Flavour Development Centre (FFDC), Kannauj.
